A Hall-effect sensor, also known as a Hall sensor, is a transducer that converts a changing magnetic field into a change in the output voltage. Hall sensors are first and foremost used to measure magnetic fields, but also to measure physical quantities that generate and influence magnetic fields, e.g. in proximity switches, Hall cases, position measurement, rotational speed measurement and current measurement devices.
