Summary
The industrial automation and automotive electronics sectors are now demanding higher performance in power supply solutions, particularly regarding wide temperature adaptability, interference resistance, and energy efficiency-to-volume balance. As traditional consumer-grade Linear Differential Oscillators (LDOs) increasingly struggle to meet these requirements, the market for industrial-grade LDOs continues to grow steadily. To address this demand, Corebai Microelectronics has introduced the CBM1117 Linear Regulator as a targeted solution. Featuring-40℃ to +125℃ wide temperature range, 40-60dB high ripple suppression ratio, and flexible fixed/adjustable voltage design, this device effectively meets diverse power management needs across multiple scenarios, establishing itself as a reliable choice for both industrial and consumer electronics applications.
With the rapid development of industrial automation, new energy vehicles and medical electronics, the linear regulator (LDO) market is facing severe technical challenges:
Inadequate temperature adaptability: The working temperature of traditional consumer LDO is only 0℃~+85℃, which cannot meet the wide temperature requirements of industrial control (-40℃~+125℃) and vehicle environment (-20℃~+85℃), resulting in frequent voltage fluctuations in extreme environments.
Weak anti-interference capability: Industrial power grid fluctuations, on-board power surges and other scenarios require LDO to have high ripple suppression ability, but the traditional solution ripple suppression ratio (RR) is generally less than 55dB, which is difficult to guarantee the signal quality of precision sensors and communication modules.
Energy efficiency and volume contradiction: Portable devices (e.g., smart watches, medical detectors) require LDO to have both low power consumption (static current <100μA) and small package (e.g., SOT-223), but traditional solutions often sacrifice volume or energy efficiency due to heat dissipation design.
At the same time, the market demand shows explosive growth: according to industry forecasts, the scale of China's industrial LDO market will exceed 5 billion yuan in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 18%, among which wide temperature and high reliability products have become the core growth point.
In order to break the technical bottleneck of traditional LDO in industrial applications, Corebai Microelectronics launched CBM1117 linear regulator series based on semiconductor process innovation, and achieved multi-dimensional technological breakthroughs:
Fixed voltage version: provides 1.5V,1.8V,2.5V,3.3V,5.0V five standard voltage levels with output accuracy ±2%. For example, the 3.3V model has an output voltage range of 3.240V~3.360V at a 0~0.8A load.
Variable voltage version: Based on 1.25V precision reference voltage, it supports output voltage through voltage divider resistor configuration, and input voltage is less than or equal to 15V.
Drop voltage: the typical drop voltage is 1.39V at 800mA full load, and as low as 1.27V at 100mA light load. It is suitable for lithium battery (3.7V) or switch power supply rear voltage stabilization scenario.
Output current: maximum continuous output 0.8A, short circuit current limiting protection range 800~1200mA, to prevent overload damage.
Ripple suppression ratio: 40~60dB at 120Hz input, effectively filtering power fluctuations, suitable for noise-sensitive signal chains.
Static current: typical value 5~10mA (VIN=12V), low to 50~120μA when light load (IO=10mA), taking into account energy efficiency and stability.
l SOT-223-3 package:
Size: 6.30~6.70mm×3.30~3.70mm, height 1.52~1.80mm
Advantages: Small size is suitable for PCB space limited scenarios (such as LCD monitors, set-top boxes).
l TO-252-2 package:
Size: 6.35~6.73mm×5.97~6.22mm, height 2.55mm
Advantages: larger heat dissipation area, suitable for 0.8A full load conditions (such as motherboard clock driver).
Compared with traditional LDO, CBM1117 achieves breakthroughs in the following parameters:
l Ripple suppression ratio improvement: 60dB (120Hz) is better than LM1117's 54dB, suitable for audio circuits.
l Wide temperature adaptability expansion: -40℃ ~ +125℃ working range covers industrial grade requirements, while ordinary consumer LDO is only 0℃ ~ +85℃.
3. CBM1117 linear voltage regulator application scenario case
· Application value: As the post-regulator stage of switching power supply, it utilizes the typical voltage drop of 1.39V (800mA load) and output accuracy of ±2% to eliminate the ripple of switching power supply and improve output stability. For example, 3.3V voltage can be generated in the post-stage of 5V switching power supply to supply power for MCU or sensor.
· Application scenario: Handheld devices powered by lithium battery (3.7V) (such as medical detector, TWS headset) can reduce energy loss and prolong battery life through 1.27V light load voltage drop (100mA); 50-120μA light load static current reduces standby power consumption.
· Protection mechanism: 150℃ Overheating protection and 800~1200mA current limiting function to prevent overload damage during charging.
· LCD monitor backlight drive: 5V or 12V backlight voltage is generated through the adjustable version (1.25V reference), and a 10μF output tantalum capacitor is used to improve transient response and avoid screen brightness fluctuations.
· Set-top box power management: provides multiple fixed voltages (e.g., 1.8V/2.5V) for decoding chips and wireless modules, and reduces audio/video signal noise with 40-60dB ripple suppression ratio (120Hz).
· Industrial sensor array: -40℃~+125℃ wide temperature operating range suitable for factory automation equipment, TO-252 package thermal resistance 80℃/W support 0.8A full load heat dissipation, to provide stable power supply for pressure/temperature sensors.
· On-board ECU and auxiliary circuit: 15V maximum input compatible with on-board power supply, current limiting protection to prevent surge current damage during start, suitable for on-board audio, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
· Adjustable voltage adaptation scenario: The non-standard voltage (such as 2.8V,4.0V) is generated by the formula (V_O=1.25 (1+R2/R1)) to meet the multi-voltage domain requirements of FPGA/ADC and other chips, and the load regulation rate of 0.4% ensures dynamic stability.
· High efficiency linear stabilizer: In the signal chain that requires low noise (such as audio amplification, analog-to-digital conversion), it replaces the switching power supply to reduce ripple interference, and 12nV/√Hz noise density is suitable for precision circuits.
