Corebai Microelectronics was initially founded in 2008. In 2014, Chinaberry Microelectronics (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was formally established. In 2017, the company officially launched its ADC/DAC product line. Following a decade-long accumulation of technology by numerous engineers within the company, an array of ADC/DAC products is now in mass production and available for use by clients.

Chinaberry Microelectronics traces its origins back to 2008, with the formal establishment of Chinaberry Microelectronics (Beijing) Co., Ltd. taking place in 2014. The company made its official debut of ADC/DAC products in 2017, following a ten-year period of technological accumulation by a team of dedicated engineers. Presently, a range of ADC/DAC offerings, borne from this concerted effort, are not only in mass production but also actively serving clients.

The current status of domestication within the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) involves several key aspects:

As is widely known, China is an expansive country where electricity, as a primary energy source, plays a pivotal role. The significance of power protection equipment within the realm of electricity transmission has become particularly paramount in our nation. Encouragingly, the domestication of power transmission equipment in China has been successfully realized. Many domestic enterprises have developed relevant apparatuses that provide ample safety and security for our national grid.

The power system transmission (generation-transmission-transformer-distribution) enables the entire grid to function in an orderly manner, with power protection equipment assuming four principal functions within this grid: signal acquisition, analysis, control, and communication.

At the heart of power protection equipment lies the crucial function of simultaneously acquiring multiple signals for both current and voltage, which relies on analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) chips that have long been dependent on imports. Furthermore, the peripheral devices commonly paired with this mainstream 8-channel sampling ADC are also largely imported. This results in the core equipment as a whole being dependent on foreign supplies, despite the vast size of China's power protection market. The profits siphoned off annually by overseas component manufacturers amount to astronomical figures.

The CBM76AD06 from Corebai Microelectronics has successfully taped out

After the pandemic in 2020, corebai Electronics, located in Zhongguancun Industrial Park, Beijing, through tireless day-and-night efforts by its engineers, finally achieved the successful tape-out of the CBM76AD06, a SAR-based 16-bit, 8-channel ADC with a sampling rate of 200ksps. This milestone signifies another victory for XinbaWei in breaking international monopolies within core device technologies.

The CBM76AD06 is a 16-bit, 8-channel synchronous sampling Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) operating at 200kSPS. The chip features a highly integrated analog front-end, with each device incorporating analog input clamp protection, gain-adjustable amplifiers, anti-aliasing filters, and eight independent 16-bit SAR ADC cores. It is equipped with a versatile digital filter and a high-precision, low-drift 2.5V voltage reference and buffer, offering both high-speed parallel and serial interfaces.

The functional block diagram is as follows.

The CBM76AD06 employs a single 5V power supply, with an analog voltage input range supporting true bipolar signals of ±10V and ±5V. All channels achieve a sampling rate of 200ksps, accommodating both single-ended and differential input modes. The input clamping voltage protection is rated at ±16.5V, with actual testing demonstrating tolerance up to ±18V. Each analog input channel boasts an input impedance as high as 1MΩ, and the analog input channels are designed with an ESD voltage rating of ±9kV, providing a higher level of protection compared to competitors' ±7kV ESD protection voltage.

The CBM76AD06 delivers exceptional DC and AC performance. It features a noise RMS below 1LSB, a total unadjusted error of less than ±6LSB, a maximum voltage reference temperature drift of 10ppm/°C, enabling a system accuracy of 0.2% across the full temperature range. In terms of AC characteristics, it offers a signal-to-noise ratio of 89dB, total harmonic distortion of 106dB, an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 14.48, and channel-to-channel isolation up to 105dB.

In 2020, crisis came hand in hand with opportunity. The successful tape-out of the CBM76AD06 signifies that domestically produced core devices have achieved localization in sectors such as power protection, distribution networks, testing equipment, new energy, instrumentation, and rail transit. This breakthrough means these industries are no longer entirely dependent on imported components, effectively bidding farewell to the predicament of being "strangled by the neck."

At present, multiple clients have already conducted tests on Corebai's CBM76AD06, with test metrics benchmarked against those of leading international manufacturers. Furthermore, the CBM76AD06 is scheduled to commence mass production and supply starting from Q1 of 2021.
